Dental insurance plans will come with a specific amount that can be spent on dental care annually, known as an annual maximum. After you have met the deductible, insurance will provide a specific amount of coverage until that maximum amount is exceeded. However, this only includes specific services. Since dental insurance is largely focused on prevention, services like cleanings, exams, and X-rays will receive the most amount of coverage. This is just another reason why it’s so important to take advantage of benefits now and lower your risk of suffering from a serious dental issue later.
Most dental insurance plans fall into the same general framework. This refers to the 100-80-50 framework, where certain types of treatments are covered at different percentages compared to others.
Keep in mind that cosmetic treatments are not typically covered by dental insurance benefits. However, if they hold any other purpose that’s tied to your dental health, you could still receive coverage (such as porcelain crowns to cover damaged teeth.)
Our dental office partners with many insurance companies. However, if you hold a policy under any of the providers we are currently in-network with, you’re more likely to receive higher savings. With that said, we are happy to accept out-of-network providers. Our team members will gladly work with you and your insurance provider so that you receive the most savings possible. This is another reason why we always encourage patients to contact us with their policy information ahead of their appointment.
