When a dentist asks their patients if they could change one thing about their
smiles, most of them would say they want whiter teeth. While our professional
teeth whitening treatment can certainly brighten your smile, it cannot address
teeth that are chipped, misshapen, or gapped. At NU Dental Staten Island,
Dr. G offers
a treatment that can correct all of these smile imperfections at the same time
– veneers. To learn more about how you can instantly achieve the
flawless smile you’ve been dreaming of,

How Veneers Work
Veneers are super-thin porcelain shells that are bonded to the front
surfaces of your teeth. They basically act as little masks for your teeth.
Once placed, multiple minor smile flaws, like chips, cracks, stains, small
gaps, and misshapen teeth, can disappear in one fell swoop. Each veneer is
custom-made to look as natural as possible.
After your consultation with your cosmetic dentist, getting veneers takes
only two visits to our Staten Island office. During the first of these
appointments, Dr. G will use a shade guide to determine the exact color that
your veneers should be. Then, he’ll remove a thin portion of enamel
from your affected teeth to ensure the veneers will lay flush against them.
Next, our team will take impressions of your smile and place temporary
veneers while a dental lab crafts your veneers from these impressions.
You’ll return to our office a few weeks later, when we’ll switch
out your temporaries for your beautiful permanent veneers!
The Benefits of Veneers
There are many reasons why veneers are one of our most popular
cosmetic dentistry
services. Here are just a few of the many benefits they deliver:
- Fully personalized results that look and feel 100% natural
- Ability to correct several smile flaws with just one procedure
- Confidence that your smile will look great
- A solution that can last for 10+ years with minimal maintenance
- A less invasive and more conservative solution than dental crowns
Understanding the Cost of Veneers

Because each veneer is custom-made, there isn’t really a set price for veneers. However, if one thing is true, it’s that you get what you pay for in terms of quality and reliability. We’re happy to discuss the factors affecting the cost, other potential cosmetic services that can meet your needs, and methods of making your veneers affordable during your consultation.

Cost vs. Cosmetic Dentistry: Learn About Your Options

When we talk about cosmetic dentistry, it’s important to recognize that there are a variety of options available to you that can address different aspects of your smile. All of these treatments have their own unique price points to consider.
- Teeth Whitening – Our office offers in-house and take-home whitening kits based on your personal preference. While effective at removing deep stains and discolorations, teeth whitening won’t do anything to change the shape of your teeth.
- Cosmetic Dental Bonding – This option is not only fast, but it can be done in a single appointment. While it can effectively hide cracks and chips in teeth, it will require a touchup in a few years.
- Invisalign/NU Aligners – Compared to traditional braces, it can be comparable in cost, making it one of the most expensive options. While cheaper options are available in-house, clear aligners only influence the position of teeth, not their color or shape.
- Veneers – While they can be expensive, veneers are one of the simplest ways to completely transform every aspect of your smile’s appearance with a single treatment and in just two appointments.
How to Make Veneers Affordable

Dental insurance typically doesn’t cover elective procedures like veneers, but there may be exceptions. Our team can evaluate your insurance policy to see whether you qualify for coverage. Alternatively, we offer low-interest financing through CareCredit as well as our own in-house membership plan.
With a low-interest financing plan, you can make monthly installments on your care that fit into just about any budget. Alternatively, our in-house membership plan enables patients to save between 15% and 25% on all other treatments depending on the plan they sign up with.
At the end of the day, the best way to learn more about the right cosmetic treatment for you is to set up a consultation with our office. Dr. Gizachew’s smile makeover consultations and second opinions are 100% complimentary, so don’t wait to give his office a call today!
Veneers FAQs
From the procedure to the cost, the above information is designed to help you learn a bit more about the process of getting veneers. If you still have some unanswered questions on your mind, we’re here to help! Since many of our patients prefer to do their research online, we’ve responded to a few FAQs below. Of course, if you would prefer to give us a call or would like to schedule an appointment, you’re welcome to do that as well!
Are Veneers Permanent?
Although only 0.1 to 0.5mm of enamel is removed from the front and sides of the tooth, it is enough of a change that your teeth will no longer look aesthetically pleasing without them. Therefore, veneers are considered permanent. With that being said, they are removable. If you want to change up your look in the future, they can be replaced to better suit your style.
Will My Veneers Match My Other Teeth?
Absolutely! Whether you are fixing one chipped tooth or addressing permanent discoloration on multiple teeth, Dr. G. is truly an expert at delivering dramatic results that are equally as natural-looking. To accomplish this, he can either pick a shade of porcelain that matches the color of your current enamel, or he can pick a lighter shade and match your other teeth with a teeth whitening treatment. Either way, the end result will be absolutely flawless!
Will Veneers Stain?
Unlike teeth, veneers have a nonporous surface, making them incredibly stain-resistant. However, it is still a good idea to limit your consumption of dark-colored foods and beverages, like berries and coffee, which can cause your other teeth to discolor. As a result, your once seamless smile will look uneven and your treated teeth will stand out like a sore thumb. So, make sure indulging in heavily pigmented products isn’t a daily habit.
Will Veneers Impact My Diet?
Thanks to the high-quality, extremely durable porcelain that is used, veneers don’t come with a long list of food restrictions. As you heal, it’s a good idea to stick with soft foods, like yogurt and applesauce, to avoid irritation. After a few days, you’ll be able to incorporate your normal diet. Just make sure to be cautious of hard or sticky foods, like peanut brittle, which can potentially chip, crack, or otherwise damage your new and improved smile.
What Should I Do If One of My Veneers Comes Off?
Although rare, it is possible for one of your veneers to come off throughout the 10+ years you have them. If you find yourself in this situation, do your best not to panic. Instead, place the veneer in a plastic bag and contact our office. Not only will we do our best to see you the same day, but we will also walk you through how to care for your smile until your appointment. Do NOT use a household item, like superglue, to attempt to remedy the situation at home.
Does it sound like veneers are the smile-transforming solution you’ve been looking for? Do you still have a few questions on your mind before committing to this treatment?
